The former Rarienda MP and Jubilee secretary-general Raphel Tuju has resigned.
While peaking at the party’s National Delegates Conference (NDC) at Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi Saturday, former secretary-general secretary-general said he is considering other political engagements.
Mr. Tuju, who had served Jubilee Party for the last ten years, said he had formally notified the Head-of-State about his intention to exit his ministerial position in January.
“In January, I went to President Uhuru Kenyatta to ask for permission if I could exit his Cabinet because of my other ambitions. We didn’t make the announcement then but I stopped being a member of his Cabinet so as to comply with other regulations,” Tuju said.
His position has now been taken by Ndaragwa Member of Parliament Jeremiah Kioni who will be deputised by Cherangany MP Joshua Kuttuny.
Meanwhile, President Uhuru Kenyatta will remain as Jubilee Party leader as Jimmy Angwenyi replaces Deputy President William Ruto as Deputy Party leader
In his adress Tuju said he was grateful for the president's trust in him despite coming four kilometerss from the home of your chief opponent."
"Thank you for standing with me even at a personal level when I had a horrific accident until now I am able to stand here.
Tuju did not reveal his next steps but said the president had given him other responsibilities.
"We have agreed with the president that he will give me other responsibilities going forward,' Tuju said.
The party is today expected to announce morefar-reaching changes to the party as it rebrands in readiness to join the Azimio La Umoja.
