Parts Garissa To Be Under Curfew For The Next 30 Days -Government Orders

From Wednesday, March 23, the government has imposed a dusk to dawn curfew in various parts of Garissa County.
Interior CS Fred Matiang'i said in a statement that the decision was made in response to attacks fueled by tensions over land and other resources.
"This has resulted in retaliatory attacks, as well as the loss of life, property destruction, and tensions in the affected areas," Matiang'i added.
Additional security services have been mobilized and dispatched to the area, according to him.
According to the CS, 23 people have been arrested in connection with the conflicts and will be arraigned after the investigations are completed.
From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., a curfew will be enforced
The Cabinet Secretary of Interior and Coordination of National Government has imposed a 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. curfew for thirty days (30) beginning Wednesday, March 23, 2022, in accordance with Sections 8 (1) and 3 of the Public Order Act."
Waberi East site (Bulla Othan and Bulla Mzuri), Waberi West location (Bulla Tawakal), and Iftin location (Bulla Rakham) will be affected in Garissa central.
CS has also put a hold on all land surveys, adjudications, title document issuing, and transactions in the affected areas until further notice.
The CS also directed the quick recruitment and deployment of chiefs to the areas of Tawakal and Bulla Mzuri.

Waberi East (Bulla Othan and Bulla Mzuri), Waberi West (Bulla Tawakal), and Iftin (Bulla Rakham) are among the areas in Garissa central that may be affected.
At the same time, until further notice, the CS has halted all land surveys, adjudications, title document issuing, and transactions in the affected areas.
The CS also ordered the recruitment and deployment of chiefs to the Tawakal and Bulla Mzuri sites right now.
The elected officials of the area have been summoned to an emergency conference to discuss the restoration of peace and long-term inter-clan harmony.
Residents have also been requested to work with security agencies and offer information on suspicious individuals.
